Near full strength team ready for Chiefs game
19 September 2014
Maritzburg United coach Steve Komphela will have a near full strength team available for next week’s big clash with Kaizer Chiefs up in Johannesburg.
The Team of Choice have had a two week gap between their match against Black Aces and the upcoming clash with AmaKhosi, and will be refreshed and ready to go against a Chiefs side that play in this weekend’s MTN8 final, also having had players away for international duty.
Maritzburg will be without the injured duo of Ryan de Jongh and Deolin Mekoa for next Saturday’s outing at the FNB Stadium, but otherwise have a clean bill of health.
The Team of Choice go into the match sitting in sixth position on the Absa Premiership standings, while Chiefs are the current log leaders.
As Maritzburg General Manager Quintin Jettoo says, United will as usual be underdogs for the game, but he does not think this will be a problem.
“We always go into the games against the big teams like Chiefs as underdogs. But we have shown in the past that we can get results against the big sides, and so we will be out to upset the apple cart again,” Jettoo told maritzburgunited.co.za.
“For us, it’s important that the players do not get overawed by the occasion. We must treat it as just another game, it’s a league match, and three points are up for grabs,” Jettoo added.
