TEAM OF CHOICE SADDENED BY PASSING OF KING GOODWILL ZWELITHINI

The Maritzburg United football family are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of the King of the Zulu nation, His Majesty King Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu.
King Zwelithini passed away at the age of 72 - after a reign that stretched over five decades and one that made him the longest-serving monarch of the Zulu nation.
In an ceremony at Nongoma on 3 December 1971, King Goodwill was installed as the eighth Zulu monarch.
He will be remembered fondly for was his work on addressing gender-based violence and the fight against HIV and Aids, as well as many other societal challenges.
Speaking on behalf of the Maritzburg family, Team of Choice Chairman Farook Kadodia paid tribute to Zulu king.
"It was with much sadness that we came to hear of King Goodwill Zwelithini's passing and we would like to express our sincere condolences to the Royal Family, to the Zulu nation and to all South Africans," Kadodia said.
"The King played a crucial role in fostering unity and peace within the KwaZulu-Natal province and also played an important part in the cultural identity and economic upliftment of our province.
"The province and the entire country have lost a man who touched many lives in a positive way and made a very significant contribution to the history of this nation, and it is indeed a sad day for all South Africans," the chairman concluded.
The King's body is set to lie in state at the Royal Palace.
