TEAM OF CHOICE HOPING TO SETTLE THE SCORE VS GALAXY
19 March 2021
Maritzburg United are determined to build some winning momentum, starting on Saturday when they tackle TS Galaxy in a DStv Premiership encounter scheduled for the Mbombela Stadium.
The Team of Choice head into the match after having collected five points from our last three outings: 1-0 against Black Leopards and 0-0 and 1-1 draws against Bloemfontein Celtic and Kaizer Chiefs respectively.
The results have lifted morale and now Maritzburg aim to build on that, says midfielder Phumlani Ntshangase, recently back in the mix after recovering from injury.
"Its been good for the team because we need something positive to hold on to," he said.
"The first round was not good, but we're past that now. The second round looks good with a win and two draws, and one of those draws could also have been three points. So that's the positivity we see, and which we have taken from the past three games.
"It's good motivation for us and a big boost going forward for Saturday's game," Ntshangase added.
The industrious central midfielder says the United camp is well prepared and in good shape going in Saturday's clash with a Galaxy side who are in their first season in the top flight.
"The coach has been working on getting us all fit (those players who had been injured) and to also understand and gel well with the guys, so everything is looking good," he explained.
"We definitely need to get one over them when we go there. They beat us 1-0, there were a lot of individual errors I saw when I was watching the game when we played Galaxy at home.
"But we have analysed that game with coach Paul [Lamb, the Maritzburg technical analyst] and the coach [Ernst Middendorp] so we know what to do now - we have a plan and now we must go there and execute the plan and limit those errors we did in the first game."
Kick off in the Mpumalanga province is scheduled for 5pm.
