MARITZBURG BOW OUT NEDBANK CUP WITH HEADS HELD HIGH

Maritzburg United made PSL giants Mamelodi Sundowns sweat for their 2-0 Nedbank Cup last 16 win at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium on Sunday night.
The Team of Choice played some gutsy football to match their illustrious opponents and were very much in the rain-delayed contest right up until the dying stages.
It took Sundowns 74 minutes to break the deadlock, as Thembinkosi Lorch rifled in a thunderous shot.
Even then, United kept on fighting right till the end and had a couple of promising moments, only for Lorch to seal the Pretoria side's win in the 94th minute.
The Team of Choice will now return to league action with a home match against Upington City on April 3.
