NTSHANGASE: EVERYONE IS FOCUSSED AND DETERMINED

4 June 2021

The Maritzburg United players are ready to give their all to end the season on a positive note in Saturday’s KwaZulu-Natal derby clash with AmaZulu at the Harry Gwala Stadium.

The round 30 DStv Premiership encounter against Usuthu kicks off at 3pm.

Sitting just three points above 15th placed Chippa United, the Team of Choice need a good result against their provincial rivals to make 100% sure of safety.

"It's very important that we get a point or the three points, we can't lose the game. We have to make sure that we get something out of it,” midfielder Phumlani Ntshangase said.

"This game is a big opportunity for all of us to make sure that we stay in the DStv Premiership and to prove that we deserve to be here.

"Everyone is focussed and determined to do their jobs - we need the positivity to make sure we fight to win our last game.

"It's a derby and that's a very important one where you want to make sure you beat the other teams from KZN.”

This week AmaZulu secured their spot in the Caf Champions League for next season, underlining the challenge which awaits Maritzburg.

"They are in a good run, we are not, so this game is going to be a very big fight, them being in the Champions League and doing very well,” Ntshangase explained.

"We have to make sure that we do all our primary jobs very well - communicating, working together, supporting each other, because we need the points - they are very important fir our safety in the Premiership.”

Ntshangase also spoke of his relief to be back in the squad at a vital time of the season after recovering from injury, and his enjoyment at playing alongside midfielders such as Daylon Claasen and Travis Graham.

"Playing with Travis and Daylon in centre midfield, it's been good, they are top guys,” he said/

"Travis with his strength and ability to go forward, Daylon with the speed and the intelligence he's got.

"Me coming with a different style of play, being more defensive, I think it works out very well for the team, it balances everything that the team needs."
