CURTAIN DRAWS ON 2019/ 20 SEASON WITH CELTIC DEFEAT
5 September 2020
Maritzburg United failed to end what was a good season on a high note as they went down 3-1 to Bloemfontein Celtic.
The Absa Premiership encounter took place at the Tuks Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Celtic were looking to secure a top eight spot and they were on the front foot from the start as Victor Letsoalo latched onto a Thato Lingwati pass in the eighth minute to put the Free State side ahead.
The Team of Choice fought back however and went into the break at 1-1 after Tebogo Tlolane received the ball from Judas Moseamedi before finding the net in the 37th minute.
But parity did not last long after the restart as Lucky Baloyi put Celtic ahead in the 47th minute.

The KwaZul-Natal side then suffered a further setback in the 55th minute when Kwanda Mngonyama was sent off.
It was tough for them to get back into the game after that and Letsoalo went on to ensure the points for Phunya Sele Sele when he completed his brace in the 83rd minute.
The result means Maritzburg end the season in a credible seventh position, having also played in the final of the Telkom Knockout.
