IN NUMBERS: MARITZBURG UNITED'S 2019/ 20 SEASON
16 September 2020

The 2019/20 season was amongst the longest ever Premier Soccer League (PSL) campaigns, lasting all of 13-months.

That was because of the four-month break due to the coronavirus. Overall, the campaign proved to be a successful one for Maritzburg United - apart from reaching the Telkom Knockout final, we also managed our second best ever points haul in the Absa Premiership.

Here are some of the key numbers:

2: The goal difference for the Team of Choice in the 2019/ 20 campaign was +2. That's a big improvement on the previous season when we ended on -10.

4: The 2019/ 20 season marked the fourth time in the club's history that we have managed to finish in the top half of the table to qualify for the top eight competition.

5: Our longest winning run last season - five games won in league and cup during September, October and November.

7: United finished seventh this season. We also finished seventh in 2017, and fourth in 2018, our best league ending to date.

8: Maritzburg lost eight of 30 Absa Prem matches last term, a marked improvement on the previous campaign when we lost 15.

10: United won 10 league matches last season. That's our second best win rate, after the 2017/2018 season when we won 11.

10: Thabiso Kutumela was Maritzburg's top scorer with 10 goals in league and cup. (Judas Moseamedi was next best with seven league and cup goals).

24: The percentage of goals Maritzburg scored between the 50th and 60th minute in a game, the team's most frequent scoring period.

27: The number of goals we conceded; the fifth best record in the PSL.

30: Two players - Rushine De Reuck and Daylon Claasen, featured in all 30 league games last term.

42: The Team of Choice picked up 42 points in the 2019/ 20 campaign. Only once have we claimed more points, in 2018 when we finished in fourth spot with 44 points.

43: Maritzburg kept an impressive 43% clean sheets in the Absa Premiership, the joint second best record in the top flight.

397: There were 397 days between Maritzburg's first and last matches of the season.

2618: The most league minutes played last season - Rushine De Reuck.
