COACH ERIC: I CAN'T FAULT THE PLAYERS
23 November 2020
Head coach Eric Tinkler felt Maritzburg United deserved far more than they got from Saturday afternoon's trip to Thohoyandou where they were on the wrong end of another DStv Premiership result - this time against Black Leopards.
The Team of Choice ended up leaving the Limpopo province empty handed after Leopards striker Rodney Ramagalela scored in the second half for the only goal of the game.
It was harsh on the KwaZulu-Natal side after they had been on top for significant portions of Saturday's encounter.
"This was a massively disappointing loss. Obviously I feel for the players because I don't think we deserved it," coach Eric said.
"We dominated and dictated play, practically the whole match.
"We just didn't take the opportunities we created and one mistake led to a goal, but you know that's been the story of the season so far," he added.
Maritzburg now have a few days to regroup and refocus on the training ground ahead of Friday night's clash with SuperSport United at the Harry Gwala Stadium.
Coach Eric and his technical team will be looking to try and keep the players' heads up after what has been a tough start to the season for United.
"Moving forward, the morale, the confidence, we have got to look to try and build it. Everybody was extremely disappointed obviously with the result but ultimately I can't fault the players - I thought the performance was very good. We just didn't take out chances," he said.
