ENGELHARDT: STILL A LOT TO IMPROVE ON

9 March 2021

Maritzburg United are not resting on the laurels of a couple of positive results as we prepare for Wednesday's DStv Premiership showdown with Kaizer Chiefs.

The Team of Choice host Amakhosi at the Harry Gwala Stadium at 6pm on Wednesday and are looking to build on the momentum of last week's four points earned in the league.

"We are happy to achieve the win against Leopards and the draw against Bloemfontein Celtic was deserved, but I think we could have got a win," commented Maritzburg keeper Marcel Engelhardt.

"We are still focussed and want to achieve more - we are still in a relegation place and want to improve our form.

"Its crucial to continue picking up points, we need to get close to the other teams and also build our confidence if we keep on picking up points and I hope we can continue to on Wednesday," he added.

By Chiefs' high standards they have not had a great season, but they do come into the game on the back of a 2-0 win over Petro de Luanda in the
Caf Champions League.

"They are a big team here with a lot of good players," Engelhardt pointed out. "But we as a team can make a good performance and I hope we can achieve something and keep on picking up points. Home games are the best way to collect points," he added.

While United can take a measure of confidence from their 2-0 win over Chiefs in the opening round of DStv fixtures, we'll also be wary of a possible backlash from the Glamour Boys.

Maritzburg do however enjoy a good record against Chiefs of late - in the last five encounters, we have won three, drawn one and lost one.
