GRAHAM ISSUES RALLYING CRY: ONE FINAL AT A TIME

1 March 2021

Maritzburg United should approach each of their last 15 DStv Premiership matches in the same manner as they would cup finals, says Team of Choice midfielder Travis Graham.

The first of those 'finals' is on Tuesday evening at the Harry Gwala Stadium, when United host Black Leopards.

In 15th place, Leopards are one position and three points above Maritzburg. It's certainly a big game, although as Graham says, cool heads are the way to go.

"We need to stay calm. We need to understand that its not a good situation to be playing a relegation battle. But we shouldn't panic, we need to focus on the task that's ahead of us and fight for the three points," the tenacious central midfielder explained.

Graham also spoke of the need for everyone to pull in the same direction, and to take each of the final 15 games in the second half of the season as must-win fixtures.

"The team has been working very hard," said the 27-year-old. "Everybody in the club understands that we are going to need each other's full efforts to see better days. And hopefully we can reward ourselves with a win on Tuesday.

"We basically have 15 finals ahead us, we need to win each and every one of those finals," Graham stated. "That's the mindset we have in the changing room right now, one final at a time."

The match against Leopards kicks off at 5pm and will be covered on our social media platforms.

The Team of Choice will be out to avenge a run of three consecutive defeats to Lidoda Duvha, including a 1-0 reverse in Thohoyandou earlier this season.

In the 12 matches the two clubs have played, Maritzburg have won three, drawn four and lost five.
