ARROWS SNATCH ALL THREE POINTS FROM MARITZBURG
30 January 2021

It was a frustrating afternoon at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium for Maritzburg United as Golden Arrows came from a goal down to win 2-1 in a DStv Premiership KwaZulu-Natal derby.
It was all the more disappointing as Maritzburg had been on top for most of the first half and could well have been more than a goal to the good at the interval.
The Team of Choice were on the attack early on as Daylon Claasen struck a shot from the edge of the box in the eighth minute which went wide, before Thabiso Kutumela was slipped in on goal a minute later, only for his left foot strike to be tipped over the bar for a corner.
United came even closer in the 11th minute when Judas Moseamedi thundered a header into the crossbar before Arrows somehow scrambled Nazeer Allie's follow up off the goal-line.

Moseamedi had another effort turned away by the Abafana Bes'Thende keeper before he turned provider for Kutumela's 35th minute goal as he squared the ball perfectly for his partner to guide home expertly into the bottom corner.
Despite starting brightly in the second stanza, Maritzburg's lead was halved in the 55th minute when Lindokuhle Mtshali scored for the Durban team.
And after Pogiso Sanoka had gone close with a header for United, Arrows struck again in the 70th minute through a Knox Mutizwa goal.
The Team of Choice fought hard to get something out of the game but it wasn't their day as Gadinkame Modise hit the bar with a header before we had a penalty shout for a handball turned down.
