THREE POINTS AGAINST ORLANDO PIRATES ‘WOULD BE MASSIVE’ SAYS SHANDU
22 January 2021

Maritzburg United will do battle with Orlando Pirates in a DStv Premiership showdown at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Saturday evening.
The match kicks off at 5pm and comes three days after the Team of Choice suffered a 0-3 home defeat to TS Galaxy.
Bandile Shandu says it’s up to the Maritzburg players now to ensure they put things right with an improved performance.
“It was a disappointing loss, the midfielder said. “I think what we can take from it is the mistakes that we made, and rectify them. Its something that we want to move on from, but at the same time, learn from and make sure we are ready for the next game.
“We must stick to the instructions from the coach and how we plan to play against them,” Shandu continued.
“We must make sure that we give it our all, that we work together and work hard, then I think we will achieve. With how tight the league is, every point is crucial, so it would be massive to pick up all three.
“Pirates are a very good side. They are beatable but at the same time they are a very good side," he elaborated, "they have got a lot of pace. A lot of clever players. A lot of experienced players. We just need to work hard - if we work as a team we are unstoppable. If we work for one another, they are a beatable side.”
In 29 previous matches between the two clubs, Maritzburg have won six, drawn seven and lost 16.
Pirates won the corresponding match last season in the KwaZulu-Natal capital thanks to a late goal from Gabadinho Mhango.
