MOSEAMEDI CALLS FOR 100% EFFORT VS BAKGAGA

22 April 2021

Maritzburg United's DStv Premiership campaign continues on Friday evening when they host Baroka FC at the Harry Gwala Stadium.

United head into the game sitting in 13th place on the standings, with 20 points, while Baroka are up in eighth, with 27 points, although they've played two games more than the Team of Choice.

The Limpopo side come into Friday's game boosted by a 1-0 win over Chippa United, while Maritzburg lost 2-0 away at Orlando Pirates, bringing an end to a five-game unbeaten run.

Team of Choice striker Judas Moseamedi spoke of the importance of putting the Pirates result behind, and remaining positive, and focussed.

"It's very important for the team to apply ourselves 100% on Friday," said United's target-man. "If we can apply ourselves then we will get the three points.

“We are obviously disappointed by the loss against Pirates, but we don't have to give up now. We can still manage to get the three points and move clear of the relegation zone.

"Looking at how we have played this year on our home ground, we have played very well, we haven't lost in the league," Moseamedi continued.

"Playing home is a motivation because of the record we have here. The confidence is there and the smiles are there, I think we are ready.

"Baroka play well, we can't underestimate them, so we need to prepare well and be ready for them," he concluded.

Maritzburg beat Baroka 1-0 the last time they met at the Harry Gwala Stadium, in October 2019. Since then we've lost 2-1 to Baroka on two occasions - both in Thohoyandou.

Friday's game in Pietermaritzburg kicks off at 17H00 and will of course be played behind closed doors.
