MARITZBURG UNITED EDGED OUT BY TTM
15 May 2021
It didn't go Maritzburg United's way at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday afternoon as we lost 1-0 to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila.
In a tight match, an individual goal from Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo in the 68th minute earned the hosts all three points.
The first clear chance of the game had fallen to the Team of Choice - after turning smartly in the TTM box, Clayton Daniel fired a powerful shot goalwards, but he was denied by a good reflex save by Washington Arubi.
The Limpopo side created a series of opportunities around the 40 minute mark, but on each occasion Maritzburg keeper Marcel Engelhardt was up to the task with some brilliant diving saves.
Following the restart, the Team of Choice had an opportunity to score when Judas Moseamedi won the ball and stormed forwards, but his angled parting shot went just wide of the target.
At the other end, Ndlondlo wasted a good chance to score in the 67th minute, but he made amends a minute later when he snuck in a low shot into the bottom corner after a mazy run which saw him beating several players.
Maritzburg rallied to try and get themselves back in the game but it wasn't to be as the home defence held firm and denied the Team of Choice any clear chances.
