TEAM OF CHOICE CONFIRM DEPARTURES
18 June 2021
Maritzburg United can confirm that we have officially parted ways with four players: Jethren Barr, Daniel Morgan, Kwanda Mngonyama and Dusan Stevic.
Goalkeeper Barr’s contract had come to an end, while Maritzburg decided not to take up the options on the contracts of defenders Morgan and Mngonyama.
Barr, a Bidvest Wits development product, played seven league games for United last term. The 27-year-old Mngonyama was in his second spell at the club, having returned after two seasons at Cape Town City.
New Zealander Morgan, 30, had played for Auckland City before coming to Pietermaritzburg. Serbia-born Stevic spent just half the season with United and the club have decided to release him as well.
“We would like to extend our sincere well wishes to Kwanda, Daniel, Jethren and Dusan for their future endeavours,” said Team of Choice Chairman Farook Kadodia.
"Jethren's contract had come to an end and we decided to release him. With Daniel and Kwanda, we elected not to take up options to extend their stays. We would like to thank the four for their hard work and commitment in the club’s cause, which has been much appreciated and valued.”
Maritzburg United are still in negotiations with a few other players and we will announce our plans to bring on board new players in the upcoming weeks.
