SOUKANA ADDS FRENCH FLAIR TO MARITZBURG UNITED
19 August 2021
Maritzburg United have bolstered their attack with the signature of Amadou Soukouna.
The 29-year-old Frenchman has signed a two-year contract at the Harry Gwala Stadium.
Capped at Under-19 level by France, he spent his formative years at Toulouse Football Club in his homeland, before later playing in Bulgaria and most recently Israel.
Soukouna is looking forward to an exciting new chapter of his career in the Premier Soccer League (PSL).
"I feel good to be playing for this team and hope that it's good for everyone - the chairman, the club, the coach and for my team-mates," he told the Maritzburg United media department.
"Now I'm here to experience another challenge, another football culture, so I'm excited for it and ready. I have a good feeling with the coach and training has been going well, I hope to keep it like this."
Striker Soukouna will compete with Richard Zumah, Leletu Skelem and Bongokuhle Hlongwane for a place in the United attack.
His signature has been welcomed by Maritzburg.
“We are pleased to welcome Amadou to the Team of Choice,” club Chairman Farook Kadodia said. “He is a player with vast experience and pedigree. We are looking forward to what he brings to the club.”
