EXCITING YOUNG BENNETT MAKES MARITZBURG SWITCH
20 August 2021
Maritzburg United have added another player to their ranks after signing youngster Razeen Bennett on a three-year deal.
The 20-year-old last played for SuperSport United where he was a fixture in their MultiChoice Diski Challenge side.
He has already featured for the Team of Choice in pre-season, netting a brace in when they beat Royal AM in the KwaZulu-Natal Premiers Cup recently.
"I feel excited because this is the first chance for me to play at the highest level in South Africa,” Bennett said. “The team has really welcomed me - that's a big thing because I was nervous coming in but now I feel at home.
“The facilities are very good here and there are various people looking after you in all departments, whether it's housing to how you are feeling, to boots, everything is very well organised."
The Johannesburg-born youngster has described himself a central midfielder, but added that he was versatile enough to operate almost anywhere that coach Ernst Middendorp would want him to play.
"We have a good connection, the coach and myself, and everything is going well so far," Bennett added.“The training here is high intensity which is what I like as it keeps me fit and at my best."
Maritzburg Chairman Farook Kadodia is looking forward to watching their latest acquisition in action as United prepare to kick off the 2021/22 season on Saturday.
“We would like to welcome Razeen to the KZN capital,” he said. “He is a young player with a lot of potential as we have seen so far at training and during the Premiers Cup. We look forward to watching him develop even further in the coming season.”
