Maritzburg United lost 2-0 to Chippa United in a DStv Premiership encounter at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Sunday evening.
Both goals were scored by Bienvenu Evanga, one in each half.
Maritzburg had started the game strongly and there were chances - in the second minute for Lelethu Skelem, who fired wide from a tight angle, and Bongokuhle Hlongwane, who was denied by a fine tackle by Chippa defender Zulu in the eighth minute.
The Team of Choice were instead punished by a route-one goal from the visitors in 34th minute as Evanga got to a flick-on before Phumlani Ntshangase and ran in on goal to slot the ball past Brylon Petersen.
Evanga continued to torment Maritzburg after the restart and after he had gone close with one attempt, the Cameroon forward scored Chippa's second goal in the 67th minute with a clinical finish following a swift counter attack.
The Team of Choice had the chance to pull a goal back in the 80th minute, but Ayanda Mtshali denied Ntshangase at close range.
The KwaZulu-Natal Capital City side now turn the attention to Wednesday's DStv Premiership encounter against Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium.
