DANIELS NOT FAZED BY SUPERSPORT UNITED

17 January, 2022

Maritzburg United will battle against SuperSport United in this year's edition of the Nedbank Cup.

The Team of Choice will square off against Matsatsantsa at the Harry Gwala Stadium, with the Premier Soccer League set to announce the date in due course.

Ex-SuperSport United defender Daniels is happy that Maritzburg will be facing off against his former side on home territory in the KwaZulu-Natal Capital City.

"The positive we can take out of this draw is that we are going to be playing at home," Daniels, who spent six years at SuperSport, told the club media department.

The Team of Choice were the runners-up back in 2018, when they succumbed to Free State Stars.

"Everyone is fighting and working very hard at training. If we can take the same energy levels into the SuperSport game, that can give us a great chance to advance to the next round," he added.

The Nedbank Cup is famously known as a David versus Goliath type of tournament.

"The good thing is that we know SuperSport. It's a premier division team, we know the players that they have. Unlike if they were a team we don't know. We'll take the positives into the game," Daniels detailed.

The Cape Town-born defender lifted the Nedbank Cup with SuperSport United a few years back.

"The game will also be preparation for the league game that we will play against them a week later. We couldn't ask for a better draw." Daniels concluded.
