23 March, 2022
Maritzburg United defender Steven Pereira is overwhelmed with excitement as he makes his return to the Cape Verde National team for the upcoming international friendly matches during this FIFA break.
The Blue Sharks will square off against Guadeloupe, San Marino, and, Liechtenstein.
The tussle against Guadeloupe is set to take place tonight in France. It will be followed by back-to-back clashes against San Marion on Friday and then Liechtenstein on Monday in Spain.
Pereira who joined the Team of Choice in the January transfer window expressed his excitement to represent his country.
"It feels great to be back in the national team," Pereira told the club website.
Pereira's last match in the national colours was against Senegal in June 2021. He missed the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations due to an injury that ruled him out of action for seven months.
"I really missed these guys a lot and the vibes are always good in the national team." he elaborated.
The 28-year-old defender believes that the experience he'll gain during the international FIFA break will play a vital role in assisting the Team of Choice to get positive results in the final stages of the season.
"I think it will be good for my confidence because I will take it all back to my club to help it to achieve our goals this season," Pereira concluded.
