Maritzburg United assistant coach Maahier Davids has promised that they'll be up for the task when they square off against on-form Cape Town City.

The Team of Choice will host the Citizens in the DStv Premiership encounter on Wednesday night, 6 April 2022 at the Harry Gwala Stadium.

"We have to make sure that we are well prepared from our side to give a good performance and hopefully to get points. " Davids told the club website.

Maritzburg United were scheduled to play against Swallows FC on Saturday night but the match was postponed due to bad weather in Pietermaritzburg.

"We have to switch focus from Swallows and focus on Cape Town City immediately. "

City will come to this match oozing with confidence following their 5-1 victory against Baroka FC and they are unbeaten in the league in 2022.

"The good thing is that we saw them playing against Baroka. They got a convincing win against them and they are unbeaten in the league this year and of course, they are on form coming to this game but we'll be ready to fight for maximum points against them." Davids eluded.

Coach Ernst Middendorp's lads will be aiming to stretch their unbeaten run to add on a 2-1 home victory against defending champions Sundowns and away 1-1 draw against Sekhukhune United.

Davids has confidence in his squad.

"We've got quality on our side. We have to continue with our structure. The confidence is still high following a win against Sundowns and draw against Sekhukhune. Of course we haven't played in a while but we've managed to keep the players going.

"The mood is good, the confidence is there and the fitness is there to make sure we are fresh and motivated ahead of the game." he concluded.

The PSL has confirmed that Maritzburg United match against Swallows FC which was scheduled for Saturday, 2 April 2022 will now be played on Tuesday, 14 April 2022. Kick-off is at 20h00 at the Harry Gwala Stadium.
