GRAHAM: EVERYBODY HAS TO COME TOGETHER, WE'RE PLAYING FOR THE CLUB
22 April , 2022
Midfielder Travis Graham has revealed that Maritzburg United have been working diligently to bring back the confidence ahead of our much-anticipated DStv Premiership encounter against TS Galaxy on Saturday afternoon - 15h00 at Mbombela Stadium.
"We have tried to get our confidence back and the mood is good," the Cape Town-born midfielder says.
"The preparations have been going well. The guys have been putting in a lot of hard work," Graham told the club's website.
United suffered a defeat at the expense of AmaZulu FC in the KZN derby ahead of this crucial clash against The Rockets.
"We're not panicking at the moment but we understand that it's a cup final for us. We're mentally and physically prepared for this match and hopefully we'll be ready on the match day and come up with the positive results," Graham elaborated.
These teams are separated by one point: Maritzburg United have amassed 23 points in 25 league matches and are 13th placed while TS Galaxy occupy 14th spot with 22 points from 25 league matches.
"We have to play for the badge. Once we understand that the club is more important than the names at our backs, then I think that's going to make us win," he added.
The Team of Choice emerged as winners when these two sides locked horns in the first round.
"Having that team spirit and fighting for each other as brothers - that's basically what is going to help us to win the match." Graham detailed.
The Rockets have collected more points at home compared to the points they have collected on the road.
But Travis believes that home-advantage will play no role for them in this encounter.
"I don't think home advantage will be a factor. It's like a cup final. They're also under pressure. I don't think the home fixture is an advantage for them." Graham explained.
Maritzburg will be looking to draw inspiration from last year's away victory against the Rockets.
"We need everybody to support each other and to put in the effort individually. Everyone has to come together, not thinking about themselves but everyone in the club. We just have to understand that we're not playing for ourselves here but for the club."
