TEAM OF CHOICE FOCUSSED ON FINISHING STRONG
20 May , 2022

Maritzburg United want to make home ground advantage count when we square off against Baroka FC in a much anticipated DStv Premiership tussle.

The two sides will battle it out on Saturday at the Harry Gwala Stadium, kickoff at 3pm.

Assistant coach at the Team of Choice, Maahier Davids, has challenged his troops to rule in their home territory.

"Our approach doesn't change. Baroka are fighting for their lives, we also have to get the points and that is our focus. And of course with the fans behind us, we have to utilize that and play a good brand of football," Davids told the club website.

Travis Graham, Lungelo Bhengu and Phumlani Ntshangase will miss this encounter due to injuries and suspensions respectively.

"Travis is out for collecting his fourth yellow card. He'll be out for one game. Bhengu and Ntshangase are out due to injury concerns. Other than that, all other players are available for selection."

Davids concedes that Maritzburg have endured trials and tribulations in the current season but want the team to wrap up the campaign with a strong performance.

"It's for us to give the supporters a gift (three points). And of course a good performance as well because ever since the fans came back they have been outstanding. We've really felt their presence as a 12th man, really pushing us in games," Davids elaborated.

A point will steer the Team of Choice to safety.

"We hope they'll come in numbers. We want to get maximum points for them. That won't be easy but that's our objective. We know they'll come in numbers to support us and we will give our best to give them what they're looking for," he concluded.
