Maritzburg United earned an important away win in the DStv Premiership on Saturday, edging out Marumo Gallants 1-0 at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium..
The difference in a tight game was an own goal by Gallants defender Tsepo Gumede in the 79th minute.
The Team of Choice had looked bright in the first half and had chances later in the stanza as Rowen Human sent a shot wide before Genino Palace tested home keeper Washington Arubi.
At the other end, Maritzburg keeper Renaldo Leaner did well to deny Thato Khiba.
In the second half, United had a couple of efforts on goal with Amadou Soukouna free-kicks, both saved by Arubi - either side of Gumede's own goal.
The Team of Choice did well to hold on for the final 15 minutes in Rustenberg and we now turn our attention to next Sunday's KZN derby with Royal AM at the Harry Gwala Stadium.
