TEAM OF CHOICE GRIND OUT GALAXY WIN

Maritzburg United’s brave performance against TS Galaxy at the Mbombela Stadium on Sunday evening resulted in a 2-1 DStv Premiership win for the KwaZulu-Natal club.
Maritzburg got off to the perfect start when Jose Meza found the net in the second minute after showing a great touch to control the ball 10 yards outside of the area before curling in a sublime shot at the far post.
However, the score was back on level terms in the 22nd minute when Bernard Parker broke into left side of the box and scored with a deflected effort.
The goal sparked the Team of Choice into action and they worked hard to wrestle back the initiative.
And United got their reward in first half added time when Meza's cross was handled by a defender and a penalty was awarded.
Amadou Soukouna showed nerves of steel to step up and slam the spot kick into the roof of the net.
The second half saw Maritzburg largely with their backs to the wall as Galaxy pressed for a way back into the match.
It took some heroic defending and intense concentration from Fadlu Davids’ charges as they successfully repelled wave after wave of attack to claim the vital three points in Mbombela.
