MARITZBURG UNITED MISS OUT ON VICTORY

Maritzburg United were denied victory as Marumo Gallants scored in added time to grab a 2-2 draw in a DStv Premiership match played at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Wednesday night.
With Amadou Soukouna and Jose Meza lively and full of running, Maritzburg enjoyed some good moments in attack in the opening stages of the game, albeir without overly troubling the visitors defence.
But then, after Gallants missed a good chance through Sibusiso Sibeko, the Team of Choice claimed the lead in sensational style when Soukouna picked out BrandonTheron, who surged forward with his first touch of the ball and then smashed it into the top corner of the net; 1-0 to the hosts after 32 minutes.
The Limpopo outfit came back searching for an equaliser and Maritzburg had to endure some anxious moments as they held on till half time.
Maritzburg had a second half chance when Karim Kimvuidi fired over goal, but again the visitng side were asking questions and Gallants got back on level terms in the 74th minute when Ranga Chivaviro scored after a goalmouth scramble.
The Team of Choice to their credit came fighting back and a penalty was earned in the 79th minute after a neat touch from Genino Palace ended with him being fouled in the oppositon box.
Soukouna showed nerves fo steel to blast home a clincal spot kick to make it 2-1 to United in the 81st minute.
Having battled hard to keep Gallants at bay, Maritzburg suffered a cruel late blow when the away team scored in the 93rd minute through Mpho Mvelase's glancing header from a free kick.
The Team of Choice grew into the game and created some openings, though the scoreline remained unchanged as Genino Palace sent a header wide and then Amadou Soukouna's side-footer from a Jose Meza cross was deflected away from the target.
